Having CD-rom/rw problems

On my computer I have a combo cd-rom/cd-rw plus a DVD-rom. The cd-rom/cd-rw stoped one day when I was playing on it and now im having to use my slower DVD-rom. The Device manager detects that nothing is wrong but it won't read ANY disc and i've tried uninstalling/reinstalling. Anything suggestions id be glad to hear.

Ok for your spinning question.. No I dont really hear any spinning and there are no errors that pop up what so ever.

The model and stuff is Sony CD-RW CRX215E5
