Hi,

I'm new to this forum - this is my first post - must say it looks good here!!

I wonder if you guys can help me.

I am intending to upgrade the hard drive in my Toshiba Satellite 4000CDT notebook to 20Gb (it currently has the original 4.1Gb HD). However, I'm not sure whether the BIOS will allow for a 20Gb hard drive. I've tried searching the web to try and find out whether a drive of this size would work OK but haven't been successful if finding out this information. The BIOS version is 7.60. Does anyone know whether a 20Gb drive would be OK for this model?

I have tried installing a latter BIOS version (8.20) but when I try installing the software (via a bootable disk) I get the error message "not enough memory" (or something to this effect) and the installation fails.

If anyone can help me with the above issues I'd be most grateful.

Thanks in advance

Simon

as far as i can tell. that is what the 4000 means is that is has a 4.1 gb hdd. I would not imagine that an upgrade is possible. Calling toshiba may be the only way to verify that. An alternate choice would be to get a external enclosure usb hdd. The price on them has gone way down and you can use the device on more than one computer.
