Default Hard Drive Spinning Loud..Or fan???

After playing BF2 Demo my hard-drive is racing like a CD drive.....I thought it was a CD going but pulled both out and still the loud spinning/noise... It eventually is slowing/ quieting down as the minutes go by after quitting the game.
That game seems to demand alot from my system, but is this a sign that my hard-drive is going???
It wouldn't be the fan getting louder would it??? Does the fan run faster on my videocard or mboard when things heat up?
Thanks...it was really loud.

western digital has a hard drive test "diagnosis" thing or something on their site. you may want to run that.

open up the case and listen to where the noise is coming from. it might be a fan controlled by temperature, which speeds up as it heats up under load
