Hmmm...I have a Seagate 120gb hard drive, and its been 1 or 2 months I'm hearing some scratching noises, not clicking. I know clicking is bad, but is scratching as bad? I bought another drive, a maxtor 40gb this time to backup my files and music.
I was just wondering how much time left do you think my hard drive has left. Its been like 1 year now only that I'm using it. Also, what brand do you recommend? Some said maxtor is bad and I should go with Seagate, but after whats happening, I wasnt going to shop for another seagate for sure...Any ideas....?

well WD or samsung are good but i think that hdd is fine can u here it when ur just at ur pc or what can u barely here or just when u go to view files and stuff is it constant?

Its only when I'm accessing certain files, like movies, its starts scratching, it freezes a little, then everythings fine. But sometimes theres scratching like at every 20 seconds and its annoying.

I don't think that's good. Western Digital's have the fastest search time, but it doesn't really matter. Get a Maxtor or Hitachi is also good.
