Probably an easy one, but I figured it's always quicker to have one of you give me the concise answer than trawl through the internet myself...

Want to replace 20GB HDD with new 80GB. I have partitioned the first 50GB as NTFS and left the remainder for maybe Linux, using my Laptop and an external HDD case USB. I want to use this Drive to replace the 20GB drive in my Desktop. This runs xp pro. On the whole partition.

How do I replecate all the data on the current 20GB HD (operating system, files and all) onto the NTFS partition on this new drive, and if I can manage this, will I be able to later add Linux as a dual boot to the remaining part of this disk..

Cheers clever people,

Duncan

Yeah, u can add linux later on.

Hook up the new drive and use a third party copying or imaging utility to transfer the old drive to your new drive. (Partition Magic, Drive Image, V2i, Ghost or some freeware utility)
