Hard drive help ?????

what is the easyiest way to salvage data off a laptop hard drive...
the laptop will not boot at all. i can remove the hard drive though. is it possible to hook up to a pc?

I have another notebook that works and i was thinking about just interchanging the HD's and backing up to a cd or dvd...

do i need any special parts?
