Hi. New here.
I need some help figuring out a hard drive duplicator for the office I work at.
We had an old one that duplicated our main computer's hard drive at the same time every night.
The problem is when it copied the hard drive, it copied everything and it didn't replace the old versions with the new versions. So, each night it made a whole new copy of the hard drive. No one realized that it ran out of disk space over a year ago, and to make matters worse, no one has any passwords or anything to go in and delete the data already there.
So we decided to just buy a new one.
A friend of ours suggested we buy this (Newegg.com - Cavalry "Retriever" Series EN-CAHDD2BU3C-ZB 2.5" & 3.5" Black Standalone SATA Hard Drive Duplicator + USB 3.0 Dual-Bay Dock), but we don't really know why we're buying this specifically.
All we want is an external hard drive, or whatever, that will automatically make a daily duplicate of our main computer's hard drive just in case something should happen.
If anyone has any advise, it would be greatly appreciated.

That is only if you're duplicating a drive outside of the computer, so that won't really be what you want. Just get any old external (SeaGate, WEstern Digital, etc.) and then get some backup software.

if you want to image the hard drive:
CloneZilla (free)
Norton Ghost (paid)
Acronis (paid)

If you just want to do files/folders:
Microsoft SyncToy (free - you can set up a scheduler through Task Scheduler to run whenever you want it to)
SyncBack Freeware - Free backup software - SyncBack Freeware - free data backup software - haven't used it, but hear its good.
