My 80gb drive, when I go to install XP, it comes up with a blue screen saying "A problem has been detected" and it states it is dumping Physical Memory.

The drive works fine as a secondary drive, it seems, but will not let me put XP on by stopping at that blue screen.

Is there a repair tool that I can use to get it back to normal?

I used the Windows XP cd partition function.

1 drive as NTFS. Oh yes and now it registers in windows as 73gb (as my secondary). was 76 before lol

ra,

Okay, need more info..

1) Are you using 2 HDD's and want to install windows in the new/80 GB HDD .?
2) Does the old HDD has an OS and is connected to your system while installing OS for your 80GB HDD?

1) I have the 80gb as secondary to this machine, but wish to use the 80 in another machine as a solo drive.

2)The 80 has been formatted and nothing is on it.

AMD 1.6g
512MB ram
Nvidia 64mb video card

Well, the drive does the same thing in other machines. I put any other drive and it works fine.

Like intercodes said did you set a active partition.Use a windows 98 boot disk and bootyour computer with it and at the a: type fdisk and no5 view all partitions if there is no active partition thats the problem. Then set one up.
