Default Hard drive crapping out?

I have a maxtor 7200 rpm 60 gig harddrive that i use for my video files that i import from my camera for editing. i've had no trouble for the past year until a couple of days ago when disaster struck. The video files started running extremely choppy for no apparent reason. When i move the files to my c drive (master), they run fine. I've run every test i can think of to find out whats wrong, and apparently its working just fine according to the tests and/or scans. Although I have been transporting my computer to and from my work about once a week. Not sure what happened. Any help would be great. thanx.
