Default Hard Drive Compatible?

I'm a novice with hardware. I'm not asking for an answer to my specific problem, but am asking "how to find out".

I have an IBM Desktop 300PL running NT with a SCSI 4 GB primary drive. I want to add an EIDE 13.5 GB IBM drive I have as a secondary. EIDE is supported on the secondary slot. How to I determine if it will work without just installing it and perhaps frying something?

These are discontinued products, way out of warranty. I've combed the IBM support site trying to find compatability information. No luck.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You wont fry anything, the worst that will happen is your bios wont see them because of the jumper settings.

good luck on getting information out of IBM. They normally don't want to know anything about it when it goes out of warranty.

How old is this computer.

I got a feeling that you are going to be pushing it to get any thing passes 20gb on that box.
