OK i have an old lyra rd2206 MP3 player, and im to cheap to go and buy a new compact flash card. i was wondering. since compact flach cards can run in IDE mode, would it be possible for me to hook up an IDE hard disk drive up to the compact flash socket on the player?

I know ther is ways, but it is supremely difficult. I imagine you would have to be pretty good with asembly and the such.

Your sig, blasting windows, perhaps the most hilarious blast I have ever seen.

yo may be able to, but the CF is so much faster than any hard drive will be that that the device may fail even if you do rig it up, as, due to the extremely high latency, it may think that it has a CF that has just been completely shot.

then of course is the physical size difference...

however, for a price i may be encouraged to work on a design ;-) that would probably defeat the purpose of saving money though ;-)
