I have an old computer and want to upgrade the hard drive..it runs on an intel 810 chipset and the specs say the chipset supports ide controller ata/66...can i use a ata/100 hard drive, or is there a way to make the computer use a ata/100 hard drive...also how big of a hard drive can i use..i tried looking up the motherboard but it is so outdated there are no specs on it anywhere..any help would be great

As for an ATA-100 drive working on ATA-66 I belive so, you can email the manafactuer to make sure, it would however work in ATA-66, if not you can buy addon cards.

And your maximum shown harddrive space depends on your OS and OS patches.

YEah, you can use it, Backwards compatible, but you will lose a substantial amount of speed. Get an ATA100/133 controller card. Plugs into your PCI slot, and you can have up to 4 additional drives with it. That will also boost you to ata100.
