I always go with maxtor. As an example, my granparents HP has a WD hard drive. Its failed on them twice and had to have it replaced. If it fails again, which is a matter of time, they will be going with my advice and getting a maxtor hard drive.

Its in my experience that WD hard drives dont last as long as a maxtor drive.

So if your asking which one to get, just based on brand seeming how their the same, I would get the maxtor...

go with the next maxtor model up from that, the 160GB 8MB cache....its probably model number 6Y160P0 or something like that. it doesn't cost much more than the 120GB model. ditch the western digi IDE disks, they are pretty slow but quieter than the maxtors.

I have had a maxtor 30 gig hdd for like 5 years and its still going, maxtor is definately a great company. I would agree with ekaesine in getting the 160 gig, its not much more for 25% more space.
