Conventional wisdom says a gig is 1000MB, but it's 1024MB, so a 10gb drive is really only 9.76gb. Then subtract from that a little bit of overhead lost in formatting and probably a little(almost negligible) from OS to OS, and you've got your TRUE size.

guess you may be right preet4u. im certain i saw something about windows stealing space somewhere having to do with missing disk space. these guys seem to know what they are talking about:
