Default hard dirve question!!!

Hey everyone i have 2 older 40 gig hard drives that a while back quit working. Anyways i decied to try and to access them because i know that they have a lot of cool data like some older movies that me & a buddy made for school. Any ways they both register in My computer as the D drive. But when i try to snoop around in it, it frezese up the comp. not to mention it makes the reputus click click click. Anyways can some tell me if there is anything that i can do. All & all i think im screwed.

thanks,

Con

Click=screwed

You could check the jumpers, tough. Or put them in the freezer for 15 minutes.
