what is the advantage of having your refresh rate higher? Does it make your monitor have better color, or does it make the monitor last longer??

i heard that the LCD monitors require a high refresh rate, but how about CRTs?

Refresh rate is measured differently on CRT vs. LCD. On a CRT, you want a minimum of 85hz refresh rate, so its easier on your eyes. On an LCD, you want an 8ms or lower refresh rate for the least ghosting during games.
