Default Good surgeprotector brand

I need to go out and buy a surge protector, but i dont know much about any of them. All i need is something that is going to protect my stuff during a power surge... i dont care if the power is lost and the computer shuts down as long as it isnt damaged. So is just an ordinary $20 surge protector all i need?... and can anyone suggest a brand or model (under $30 preferably) and i want this thing soon, so id rather it be somethng that i coulg get at like best buy or some place around here, rather than online... we have most major electronics places...

For a good surge protector, for less than $30, i'd guess that a Belkin would be good. I've seen some nice multimedia ones with spots spaced differently for the chubby phone plugs and speaker plugs. You might want one of those.
