That would run any game very well...you seem to really want to salvage every last fps you can. I noticed you said you'd also be using it for modeling too. Well, the Radeon 9800 pro would be good for modeling, but if you do it on the commercial level, or do animations and such with 3dsm/maya/lightwave/etc...I'd go with the Quadro series by nVidia or the FireGL series by Radeon.
