Default good enough?

well i am ordering new parts for my b day basically because i want games to perform better

Processor- I plan on keeping the one i have right now which is an amd athlon 2400+

Video Card- Getting ati 9600 xt

motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...ion=13-131-455

RAM - http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...145-026&depa=0

sound card - http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...102-160&depa=0

hard drive - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...ion=22-148-015

case - http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...144-025&depa=0

This comp will be operating under windows xp

I just plan to use the cd drives from my current comp. I basically want to know if this setup will be able to handle games such as World of Warcraft and other games similiar to that.

Will I need a gb or ram or will 512 be good?

Is the power supply that comes with the case good enough?

Is the processor good enough to handle most games?

Is there much difference between the 2400+ and the 2800+?

Ty for help ~

The only thing I would change is your ram. Since your motherboard supports it, you might as well go dual channel. Which just means instead of one stick of 512MB PC3200, get two sticks of 256MB PC3200, it will run faster.

And you don't need a sound card, unless you really want it. But your motherboard has excellent integrated sound.

Yeah, it looks good. The money you would spend on a 2800+ will not be worth the very little difference you see. I have basically the same setup you are going for and I can play any game out right now that I can think of without much trouble. Unreal Tournament 2004 is a great game

well i guess i am gonna cancel the sound card and get sumthing else. I was thinking maybe another stick of 512 so i would have 1024 mb of ram..is this a good idea?or is there something else i should get thats better (in range of $60-$90)

o and about unreal 2004, do u think my new setup will be able to run it nice and smooth? because i have played the game on my current setup and i only get about 20-30 fps.

also would it be worth the money getting 2 sticks of 512 mb ram? or just stick with 2 sticks of 256 mb ram??

no doubt it will play UT2004, with that new setup youll be fine, if you get 1024mb RAM then you will not have to worry about uprading it for a long while.

nice choices by the way.
