Okay, a bit more expensive than what u wanted to spend, but also a helluva better system. I didnt include floppy drive, monitor, speakers, and keyboard/mous, cuz i assumed u already have those. However, this would be a very nice system that would definitly play CS: Source at highers settings. Much better than the PC you listed above.
yes, that's a very good budget setup

Thanks DHW, but I don't think I can do that price :/

PizzatheHut06: I'm liking that price a lot and thanks for taking the time , but what do you classify as a good gaming experience? Will it take the newer games such as Counter Strike Source, Battlefield 2 in the future, etc.

It might take BF2 and the future, but if u really want to play the future, I suggest you dont spend anything now. Just save the $$$ and spend it on something you REALLY want, instead of an incremental act.

if you try to save up to around $800-900 at the time of the release of Battlefield 2 you should have yourself a nice comp

Nah, I can't do the whole 'saving' thing with my current situation and I just want a decent computer to get established with. Something that I will be able to upgrade in the future which is OK.

Yes, it would definitely give you a good gaming experience. Games are becoming more and more GPU dependent, which is why I spent the most money in your system on the video card. Here is my system:

CPU- AMD Athlon XP 2500+
RAM- 512 MB Corsair XMS PC3200
Motherboard- ASUS A7N8X-X
Hard Drive- same as the one I listed for you
Video Card- PNY GeForce Ti 4200 64 MB
Case- same as the one I listed for you
Optical Drive- Sony CD Burner

I enjoy gaming with it, and your video card is literally like 20 times better than mine. I'm able to play current games on medium settings just fine. The 6600GT should allow you to play games very well.

that's my point

xp are just fine for gaming, but i was worried about the "5900" video card

and you'll need a sckt 939 mobo if you want to do any upgrading

so an xp with a decent video will be fine (if the 5900 is ok, then go for it; i have no idea if the 5900 is good or not)
