Gloss Vs Matte Finish On Monitor

Does it really matter whether a screen is gloss or matte finish?

Gloss will give glare in highly-lit areas. I would rather go for matte to avoid the possibility of glare.

Monitor = stays on my desk. I use glossy to have the best clarity. I can control the lights in my office.

Laptop = different environments. I would go with matte to cut down on the glare from lighting I cannot control.

All the Montors where placed in the same location for the Photos. The glossy is really nice in a very dark room, otherwise forget it. The anti-glare is best if you can find it.

Glossy looks better both aesthetically and functionally (crisp image).. but I prefer my matte screens on most occasions.
