im horrible at math and was curious how fast are those 1 gigabit networks really are compared to a typical hard disk. lets say i have an 7200 rpm hard disk with ata/133 interface , so does that make gigabit networks 1/133rd the speed of the hard disk?

omg im an idiot, that doesnt even make sense, i found the conversion at google:
1 gigabit per second = 128 megabyte per second
so a gigabit network can provide slightly less throughput than a 7200 ata/133 hard disk at 133 megabytes per second. sorry i would delete this thread but i dont think i can. well, at least i learned something : )
