the Clawhammers are the first Athlon 64's in socket 754 and some in 939
the socket 939's have faster access to RAM and can have dual channel, so even the clawhammers in socket 939 can be clocked lower to get similar performance against socket 754's
the newcastle's are the second core, only in socket 939. they are faster, but not by much
the Winchester is the latest core, made with smaller architecure, so it doesn't need as much power, doesn't run as hot, and can be overclocked more. plus they can make their CPU's with more transistors in the same space if they need
