My DVD-ROM/CD ROM exploded, and I got Modern Warfare 2 and another DVD game that I only installed on a laptop. But I can't on my desktop. If I buy a USB drive, and copy the folder from my laptop to it, then transfer it to my desktop computer will that work? I've heard that you need registery settings to be added to work, but I'm thinking that can only happen if I install manualyl from a DVD. And after I used the space in my USB drive, can I delete all what's in there and transfer some more data in it? I do not feel like changing my CD/DVD just yet.

Hi,

This won't work unfortunately.

It may be possible to create image files of your game discs on your laptop PC (purely for backup purposes), then transfer them across to your desktop PC, mount and install them using specialist software, but this can get a bit complicated and I'm not clued up on what software to use.

The best and easiest thing to do would be to buy a new optical drive for your desktop PC.

Actualy, almost all games I have played, as long as you back EVERY SINGLE registry entry that game makes up, and copy everything over, it usualy works... Worked for me on Cod1-4, and FEAR/2, and Fallout 3

Ya it isn't as easy as 'hey i'll copy these files over.' There are registry edits and dll files that are required in order for a program to work with an operating system.
