Default Games freezing, even the old ones. Is it a hardware fault?

I made another post here about my friends computer.

I think the topic has been sent too far down the list through time for anybody to post an answer that works.

Please have a look and let me know what you think....

I'm not sure I haven't checked those yet - is there a program I can use to do that ?
