All the sudden the other day my computer started to sound almost like a fish tank filter. Not as bad, but the sound was definately something new to computer and me. I was wondering is my fan going out? It sounds as though it is the fan that this new noise is coming from. Could really never here the computer before this, now the sound is constant and goes on all the time. I leave my system on 24/7. My only guess was the fan might be going out.

dont unplug the cpu fan or you'll burn it if you click on power button
just use a small hose to find where the sound comes
i do that to my car to figure out if lifters are knocking loud
if you just have the cpu fan its better to get a new one than haveing to buy another cpu cuz of overheat
sometimes the cdrom will do some noises like a drowning fish
please post your specs and how many fans you have in the computer
