MM: Oh yeah, I'm not too up to date with duel channel RAM capabilities and restrictions. If I have 2 sticks of RAM running in duel channel, I won't be able to add in any more sticks to get tri-channel for example if I wanted to, correct?
MM: And if I did only have 2 sticks of RAM in duel channel, would I be able to add in anymore that are not in duel channel?

Anyone know the answers? lol i dont....

Umm make it simpler,

MM: The thing is, I'm not sure if motherboards support doing dual channel with 2 sets of 2 sticks of RAM
MM: I know they do with 1 set of 2 sticks

You have dual channel (two sticks) and quad channel (four sticks) all which must be the same size, and preferably brand and type. I have however heard that using all four DIMM slots will actually downclock you RAM speed.

For example, on some socket 939 boards, I've read that using all four DIMM slots downclocks the speed the 333MHz for some reason.

And you can add memory to any DIMM slot, you just have to do it in the correct order by the colour codes.
