Default floppy drive problems

I have a floppy drive that i bought a while ago and really never tried to use until recently. now i cant get it to work. it has power and shows up in hardware manager as working properly and everything looks good, but when you put in a floppy it says insert floppy into drive A: I cant do anything with the floppy in the drive. I dont use a floppy much but i would like it to work properly.

Well my guess is go into your BIOS their will be an option for you to turn on the aqbilities for it to be used to read/wright. I had the same issue on my oem floppy. Didnt have trouble per say but went into bios to make it as a last boot option and found something on its section where I had to enable it. Good luck.

Make sure the light doesn't stay on continuously. If it does, then it's like turtile says, your cable is backwards.
