Floppy Drive Error, plz help

whenever i start up my computer i get the message
Floppy Drive Error (40) and i have to press F1 in order to start up windows. my floppy drive doesnt work anymore and i dont know what it is. on my system controls it lists my floppy drive as "this device is working properly".

im running windows ME if that helps.

Can you access your A: after windows loads up?

If you double click on your A:, and nothing happens, you will have to buy a new Floppy Drive. You can look around, they aren't that expensive.
