Firmware

I was having trouble with my CD-RW, so I updated the firmware and it fixed the problem. However, when I updated the firmware - The CD-RW was on a different PC. So, now that I am moving it back into my PC... Will I have to update the firmware again? If I remember correctly... It saves it to the actual hardware. Correct me if I am wrong plz. Thx.
