Firewire question

Sorry if this is addressed elsewhere...

My new case has a Firewire connection and cable, but my mobo doesn't have a firewire connection, just USB 2.0. Just wondering if there's any real difference that I'll see with firewire over the USB? I won't be doing anything too fancy over the connection. Also, does adding a PCI card to connect the firewire actually make any difference after the card passes the info from the firewire, through the card and the PCI slot?

USB is more widely used. firewire can be faster, but you're not going to find a lot of devices that use firewire

Ipods,and video cameras,external hard drives,and firewire flash drives if u have any of this u may want to get firewire but there are usb versions to all of this.
