Fingerprint device that can be used as an input device to an html form

is there any fingerprint device that can be used as an input device, like keyboard or barcode reader? it can decode or something the fingerprint and send that value to a textbox in an html form? or it can send the image to a file but it must work for web site?

Finger print is used for logging into the system. About that, not sure.

What exactly are you trying to do? Other than authentication, there's really nothing else a fingerprint reader is good for.

it is for police related program. We have list of people in a properly designed and running web-application (which is accessed via a secure wireless connection across different locations). Now, we need to add fingerprint feature. That is: a person comes and puts on the device. Then we would scan our database of fingerprints and see if he had been registered before or not. its more or less an authenciation program.
