Default Finding out specs?

Im going to be geting a notebook tomorrow, however the company im going to get it from, ive heard sometimes "mistakingly" installs the wrong hardware. Now i know i can go through System->Hardware->Device Manager and look there, however, iwas wondering if theres, another...more accurate way, like through bios or something, where it will show me exactly what hardware it has. Something i can do quickly so i can do it right there when i pick up the notebook.
