Default FDisk Error! ???

My parents old PC is so full of crap I decided it would be best just to start with a fresh install. Its a HP Pavilion. When I put in the recovery CD and start it up, I get an error saying it can't detect the hard disk. It says I may need to run the FDisk. I have no clue what this means but it leaves me with a C:/ prompt. Anything I can do?

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz T7200
2GB DDR2 667MHz
80GB 5400RPM HDD
