Im going to buy 400mhz Pentium II (for 20 euros :) )
256mb memory
Integrated 10mb network card (I have 1mb internet connection)

Im going to use this computer solely for internet access and I have license to windows 2000 and xp and I think Im going to use 2000 for this one.

Is this computer up to the task?

Motherboard is made in '99 , should it support 80GB hard drives?

I have a 450mhz p3 with 64mb of ram, it is fine for internet and homework, the only thing i can really say is, outlook express takes ages to open.

Do you have any older os's than 2000? as something like 98se would run better on it, as i did have cp pro on my older machine, and it was like hell using it :(

I run win 2000 on anything above p2 300 Mhz and 96 MB Ram. (though, I have run it on a p200 with 64 Ram...slowly)

win 2000 runs excellent on older PC's, anyone with the above specs or better will find that it runs great. Win98 should be destroyed.

I would smash the computer with sledgehammer before installing 98 in it!

I want it to run reasonably stable..

I could try linux too, but which one is heavier, linux or win2000?

I tried installing Mandrake 10 on my older PC, I found that win2k still ran it better...
