The fan on my laptop is running constantly, whether there are programs open or not. I first noticed this after I got a few viruses which wouldn't let me into standard windows (fixed it through a scanner in safe mode). I've checked for viruses and spyware using multiple scanners. The noise is pretty annoying, any ideas?

I dunno what laptop you have, but hmm, maybe there is a setting in the bios that switches it. Maybe a setting lets you switch betewwn temperature dependent cooling and constant on, i dunno much bout laptops, sorry

check your windows task manager, and then processes, and see if you have some suspicious application running, as if your fan is running constantly, menas that your processor is getting full load even in idle position. specially check for CPU IDLE, or similar processes like that.
