400mbps bandwidth
Some newer firewire cards do 800mbps

gah their's ones doing 800mbps? IDE only does 133 and SATA 150, guess we should all be going external

Also, i think you can do better than the maxtor one touch. Their a bit pricy, and are nothing that special. I got one kinda, it's not mine, but i have it. No, it's not stolen either.

IDE and SATA are MBytes/s, not Mbits/s.

1 bit equals 8 bytes
400mbps = 50 mb/s
800mbps = 100mb/s
Internal HD's are faster.

i know 1 bit is bytes, but i get what measures what is what mixed up

making an external is easy
you buy a hd 2.5 or 3.5
and you buy the case
you put the hd in the case and your done

Which brand would you sugges - I am willing to go to around $225 and need about 200 gb storage size.
