Hey all,

Here's my sitch...

got an old computer with no cd burner built in and no additional slots for a drive to be added (I don't think). Slowly but surely this thing will fritz out (it's a 99'). In the meantime, I have been amassing pics, mp3's, other important files on it.

Sometime this year I want to buy a new machine but in the meantime I have an old machine with some very important stuff on it and no burner to burn it to.

My concerns are two fold.

1) it'll fritz out and I'll lose all the stuff I NEED to keep.

2) Assuming it doesn't fritz out (big assumption here) I need some efficient way to transfer these files to the new system when it comes.

How do I accomplish this? I was thinking an external cd burner but wasn't sure if they were still made.

Help....

either that or just get an external hd. he said his old hd was going to "fritz"

You could also buy an internal CD or DVD burner and just plug it in to the the mobo and transfer you files and pics to a CD. Then, when you build your new system, you can just use this drive in your next machine. Probably, the cheapest way to go, since external burners cost more $$$ than internal.
