Thanks AND_YOU_ARE, this HD have been in this same enclosure before in others XP machine

so I know it can handle 250 GB with XP not problem

Can you use the usb on that computer with a different device?

thanks AND_YOU_ARE, yes I can use that USB port with another device, even on that USB windows knows there is a 250 GB HD connected via USB 2 on the taskbar Icon, plus I have others USB Ports that I have tried as well

thanks TheMajor, te HD is formatted, Partitioned, and if connected to one of the internals IDE cables windows XP has not problem reading the HD partitions and it's data, so is a healthy HD
