Default E-ide?

are E-IDE the same thing as IDE.. was looking at DVD RW says interface of E-IDE.. thought it was supose to be IDE... will E-IDE work on all motherboards?

E-Ide is whats used primarily these days. Everyone is just lazy and doesnt call it by its full name and shortens it down to IDE.

EIDE (Enhanced Intergrated Drive Electronics) is a newer version of IDE. I think the old IDE was limited to 2MB/s.
All modern drives+mobo's use the EIDE interface.
