Default DVD rip problem/question

i have this dvd rip, and when i play it in DivX player, it played at like 2 times the normal speed, this has happened with several dvd rips, can someone help my figure it out? the files are split into 2 folder, CD1 and CD2...inside these folder there are several winRAR files, when i extract these...i get an AVI file, but windows media player 10 wont play it...it just opens it and stays at a black screen, and divx player plays it, but like i said...at 2 times the normal speed

Some times you need codecs to play avi files. There are all different kinds out there. Personaly I have, the Nimo Codec Pack, with xvid, divix, and others. I have not had problems where I could not play any. I also use a different media player than WMP, I dont like WPM at all. So try it first with a different player, then get the codecs.
