DVD drive not detecting DVD's

Hey all,

I have a Samsung SD-616Q running on WinXP, but im trying to run a burnt DVD that a mate made for me.

Unfortunately, the bloody thing just wont read. It blinks and blinks for a while, then stops. If I attempt to see the contents of the drive in explorer, it says 'Please insert a disk into drive D:'

I should note that normal dvd's work fine, im just having trouble getting it to read burnt ones.

many dvd-rom drives do not read burnt dvd's. should not have a problem working in a dvd-rw drive. I have the same problem with mine, doesnt work in the rom but does in the rw

thanks for your reply, I managed to somehow get it to work.

Ive downloaded the newest firmware, and that seems to have helped things. The bizarre thing is, sometimes I need it to read a normal DVD before putting a burnt one in :S

O well, at least it is working now
