DVD Drive Help

Both my drives Sony DVD and DVD-RW are recognised but i cant use them. I get this message from the device manager.
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I uninstalled them both and tried to reinstall them but i get the same message.
I also tried getting an updated driver but it says: The wizard cannot find a better match then the drivers you have already installed.

have these drives been working on this computer and suddenly stopped working? or have they just been installed and never worked?

have you got another computer that they can be tested in. another thing you could try is different combinations of master/slave and one drive at a time to see whether both drives are at fault and so we have some more information about the nature of the problem
