I got a new DVD burner (12x dual layer) but it will not work on my pc?

(40GB Hard Drive
256MB Ram
XP Pro
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.6GHz
MSI (Micro Star) MS-6391 (845 Pro4) motherboard)

I know if far from great but the thing is my mate has the 100% same specÂ’s and can copy/burn DVDÂ’s no problem using my burner?

If anyone has any ideaÂ’s why this would be happening it would be great, thanks

the computer (using nero 6) will burn till around 80% - 90% then say burning process failed.

I'm trying to fix a laptop with that same problem. I haven't figured it out yet, but I do have a guess at this point. The problem started happening when the user used a different brand media than before (which worked). The DVD's were really low quality, they were generic brand X. Spud5437 try testing with some DVD's of higher quality. try the same exact blank DVD's your friend uses

Try burning 1 data file at the slowest speed after closing your TSRs. ;-) If it's failing on TOC writing it's caused by:
1. Discs (Try new)
2. Writer (Get firmware update)
