Default dvd burner doesnt get recognised

i installed my dvd burner to my secondary master channel because i have a dvd rom connect to the primary slave channel. i connected it all and doubled checked it all once i turned on my pc bios would not recognise my dvd burner so i cant use. Does anyone now who to make it recognise it and fix this problem.
pls help.

did u forget to set the jumper setting to slave?
