Default Dual moniter performance

I've searched all the posts I've found about dual moniters but I couldn't find one that asked about performance lost by running 2 moniters. In my current computer (2.2ghz P4, 512 ram,Radeon 9250 pci) I tried running my 21" WS Samsung as the main screen and a 17" crt and found that everything really bogged down, especially on the 2nd screen. I know my vid card sucks but (having only PCI slots I'm kinda limited) how much load does dual moniters have on the cpu/gpu. Is there any loss in FPS or noticable perfomance lost while running a game one screen and say itunes/winamp on the secondary? TIA

Running a dual monitor setup, does not reduce performance. I think it's because of your ram, that when you are playing a game in one monitor, and playing music in the other, causes lag. Get another 512mb ram and you'll notice a difference.
