Default Dual Core Processors?

Yes I saw a few threads with these in discussions but I was reading up on the Dual Cores that AMD and Intel released...am I an idiot or am I missing the point to having one processor take care of the OS and background applications and another one for gaming?

Sounds like a waste of 800 dollars.

With the other taking care of backround applications it dedicates more of the other CPU to gaming. It also works wonders for multitasking (or so I hear).

the name of the game is future proofing

if u are running a workstation, id consider dual cores to be almost mandatory
