Default dual channel memory(two different sizes)

working on finishing up my new system...had a question about dual channel memory. i havent been able to find the answer. please only reply if you know what your talking about!

i have an ABIT "AG8" i915P motherboard. can i run two sticks of 512mb and two sticks of 256mb in there or do all four sticks have to match? memory used would be the same. just dont think i need 2gigs, want to save 100 bucks too.

do you know if you can run two different sizes of the same manufacture memory? can i run 512x2 and 256x2 or do i need to run 512x4?

thanks in advance,
