Default Doom 3: 9800 Pro vs. X800 Pro.

I have been comparing my doom 3 performance with the performance of another TF member, FoLeafClova, who owns a 9800 pro. We both tested on 1280x1024, 4x AA, 8x AF, High settings. The results were stunning. His 9800 Pro totally blew away my more expensive X800 pro. Here are the screenshots to prove it.

Thats with the 9800 pro

Thats with my own X800 Pro.

Why can he retain a playable framerate at those settings while I can't play on anything above 1024x768 and no AA. I guess its just another sign that the X800 pro is suckage.

Is the x800 more expensive than the 9800?

The X800 Pro is around $400, same price as the 6800GT, while the 9800Pro can be bought for as cheap as $150 these days.

Catalyst 4.10 Beta, and believe me, these drivers do a better job than any previous ones. When I attempted 1024x768 with 4x AA on Catalyst 4.9, I got about 3 fps. I can actually play Far Cry without lag with these drivers, and Doom 3 will play on low-res no AA and never drop below 40 fps.

what CPU's have you both got?
it might be your CPU bottlenecking it, or even your RAM
