Default Disc Media Question

Hi,

I just wanted to know what the numbers mean when I go to purchase discs. Like when I go to buy dvd dl discs there is 2.4x, 6x, and 8x. I never payed much attention to it, what does it mean exactly, and does getting one over the other really matter?

Thanks,
Ted

That is the speed that the disk can be written. The higher multiplier the faster you can write it.

4x-speed 5.54MB/s
2x-speed 2.77MB/s
1x-speed 1.385MB/s
